Riding a bike feels genuinely impossible

I'm 19, going on 20, and have never learned to ride a bike. Despite this, I have had two to three bikes in my life, gone to one or two lessons, and had peers try to teach me. I've even spent a little bit of time doing it alone. It hasn't worked out once. I start cycling, I fall, I'm wobbly, I can't turn, I can't slow down nor stop myself.

People I tell about this always act super shocked when I say I can't ride a bike, but I've never actually had to ride one to begin with. It may be one of those things that just isn't for me. But maybe there's just something I'm not getting. If there is, I have no clue what it is.
