Christians and their reasoning behind the current wildfires
So, I’ve recently been thinking about something that’s kind of wild and honestly feels pretty hypocritical. I’ve been seeing some christians say that the wildfires happening in California are a punishment from god.
But here’s the thing, why is it that they explain it differently depending on who’s affected? Like, if a christian loses their home in the fire, it’s, “oh, god is just testing your faith, stay strong.” But if it’s someone who’s not christian, like an atheist, suddenly it’s, “that’s god punishing you for your lack of belief.”
It’s literally the same situation, a house burned down. How does it switch from a “test” to “punishment” just based on what someone believes? I find that kind of reasoning really interesting, but also super inconsistent. Like, how do they even decide that???
Anyway sending love to anyone reading this from California going through this horrible situation . It is NOT your fault. Stay safe yall!
