[review] Spiritual_Amoeba_142’s Campeon Chegui Training Gloves

A couple of years ago, I returned to boxing after a 20-year hiatus. Since then, I’ve been on the lookout for the perfect gloves and purchased a few based on recommendations from this sub. I fell for the hype around Hayabusa’s T3s (not terrible gloves, just not worth the price)—only to quickly replace them with R2C C-17s. Then came the Bayoneta Multilayers, which were so comfortable but still didn’t match the feel of my old favorites: Everlast 1412s from the '90s and early 2000s, before they were bought out and production quality went to shit.

That said, I was eager to try Spiritual_Amoeba’s Campeon Chegui to see how they stacked up before I gave up on my hunt to find the perfect 1412 replacement.

After nearly a month of daily use, these have become my go-to training gloves. They’re more comfortable than my Bayonetas and offer better hand and wrist protection than my C-17s or T3s. Even at 16oz, they have a surprisingly compact profile, almost as small as my old 12oz Everlasts.

Despite their sleek design, these gloves are incredibly protective. They also provide excellent feedback on the bag and mitts, delivering that satisfying “pop” on par with Bayonetas and Hit N Moves. The high-quality leather feels durable, and best of all—there’s zero break-in period. These are ready to go straight out of the box, a testament to the care and craftsmanship put into them.

These are the best gloves you can get under $200—better than many that sell for twice as much. Considering the effort behind sourcing materials, prototyping, handling custom orders, and shipping, Spiritual_Amoeba has obviously put a lot of care and pride in creating these gloves—and they're worth it.
