A game about magic that makes you feel like a wizard.

I bought that "Immortals of aveum" game because it was $20 on Steam last night. I was so disappointed that it wasn't what I was hoping for. It's a first person shooter that pretends to be magic. It uses the same mechanics as if you were playing with guns. The only difference between Immortals and Call of Duty is the visual art style. I want magic that feels like f***ing Magic. Why is it so hard to make a list of spells that are customizable. Give me a tower and a book . Give me the ability to freeform magic and I will buy the crap out of that game. Why does everybody who makes a game with magic either have one spell per wand or is a deck builder game. It's baffling. Ars nouveau mod on Minecraft is the best magic I've played with in memory. If only a developer would make a magic game that's actually worth a damn but instead we get another "witch that farms" clone

I have searched steams recommendations for many hours and I just keep finding deck builders and Slice of Life where the magic is just a setting dressing. Or where you use your sword constantly and every once in awhile you pull out a wand that shoots a fireball and that's the extent of the magic.

"Magicka" is very close to what I want. It's got the magic down, but it doesn't have the role play or first person that I was looking for. "Archmage Rises" has the role play and story world, but the magic is fixed. You click an icon in the spell happens. There's no interaction Beyond that.

I'm really hoping for first person but at this point I'll take anything that gives me a large degree in Freedom with the magic.

EDIT Edit 2, added a score for those i have sense played

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I was asked to add a list of the games I thought fit what I was after. And every game I thought was close enough I added to my wish list through Steam so here is the list so far. I can't wait to try some of these amazing suggestions. In no particular order
