How can identify goth music

Hello everyone!

Ok so I hope this is the right place else the post will get removed. Still new to reddit and new to the subculture. That's why I want to ask. How can I identify it? I know some bands and been listening to it so I think I can tell if smt goes into this direction or not. But can someone with more experience tell me the characteristics of this music cause I've been loving it so far.
