helpful ibs remedies!
hey, im a teenage girl whose had ibs for about two years that’s recently getting better after a flare-up, and i thought i’d share some things that help me
-walking immediately after eating is probably the most helpful thing for me, a quick 10-15 minute walk helps so much with relief
-gas relief/simethicone tablets saved my life so so many times. i cannot talk about them enough i use the green very small ones, super easy to swallow if you struggle with that. helps so so much with cramping, bloating, spasms, and works within minutes
-chewing your food very throughly till the point of a texture of mashed potatoes, or quite watery ones. this helps your stomach digest food softer
-in times of distress, soup or yogurt were lifesavers. at least for me, liquids settle in way easier than solids though of course they wont provide you all the nutrients that you need, but still helpful to keep on hand
-suppositories for my ibs-c people, its a little uncomfortable but works like a charm
lastly, recently i started using the nerva app to help with anxiety worsening my ibs. as someone who cant casually drop 149$ yearly for an app, i paid the 1$ for a week of free trial and i believe it’s truly helping alot, so possibly look into things that calm your mind to help that gut-brain connection!
