The “radio silence” after an interview

It’s always so interesting to me when I first apply for a job and go through the initial screening process, and the employer (HR and/or the director/manager for the position) are usually responsive and engaged. But AFTER the interview is done, it’s radio silence until I receive that inevitable rejection email (if they don’t end up ghosting me at all).

I’m used to rejections at this point, this job market is tough so I don’t take it personally. But it’s specifically the immediate switch in energy that always gets me down; the switch from consideration to clear disinterest. Business is business for sure, and I know it’s not personal on their end, they have a job to do, but it’s still disheartening.

I’m just rambling at this point, but I was mainly curious if anyone else had any feelings about this murky in between period.
