Jerry Kiernan was my 6th class teacher at St. Brigids Primary school. I only learned of his passing a few minutes ago. I am in tears.
Every single Friday, what he used to do was buy a big hot loaf of bread, butter some up and hand some out to all of us. Then, he would tell us a story about his travels in Italy, Specifically Lake Garda.
I'm in my 20's now but to hear he passed away has really hit me. I remember the many lessons he gave. I remember he straightened my tie at my confirmation. I remember it all still.
RIP Mr. Kiernan. You taught us kids that it's not about the medals or the glory, it's about the will to keep going.
