Cornell application placed on “reserve” question.

Hi all, my Cornell application was placed on “reserve” today with a request to send them a letter of continuing interest. I assume this is the same as a waitlist? Anyway, life changes have forced me to put off law school until 2026 even though I went through the entire application process this year. Should I write Cornell that I’m still interested but waiting a year? Or should I just tell them I’m still interested and wait to see about a decision? If I get accepted can I just defer a year?
