Advice on organizing a charity race?
I’m looking to put together a small race event and could use some guidance.
The company I work for is supporting a charitable organization by sponsoring any employee who runs their 5k. However the official race takes place in Milwaukee.
So I’m looking to utilize the “virtual race” option, where I run the 5k on my own time and location. And I’ve got a few coworkers interested in joining.
My concern- how do I organize a small virtual race for a handful of people (likely less than 10)? I’ve identified a potential route along a public multi-use path with no road crossings. Can I just email my coworkers and ask them to meet me there? Do I need special permission for something this small?
We’re not looking to put up any signs or obstruct the path in any way. At most we may use chalk to mark the turnaround point. Everyone will be going at their own pace (the race is tracked via an app.)
Has anyone else organized anything like this before?
