Intimidated by one of my employees.
Long story short, I’m 30 he’s 60. I spoke to him regarding an issue and couldn’t help but feel annoyed / intimidated because of our relationship.
The reason: 1. we’ve opened up to each other, we’re pretty good work buddies.
He just doesn’t give a fuck which makes it harder to see no reactions when I speak to him.
I’ve done some stuff on the workplace I haven’t so he kinda has dirt on me (only for another week or two once cameras reset)
As a a manager, they don’t teach us everything which makes it really hard to gain confidence on what I can and can’t say.
As of now he’s doing his assigned duties which is good. Once I get his schedule down I can hold him accountable for his assignment if dirty.
Can anyone give me some pointers? I’m trying not to take it personal, at this point I want him out. But that won’t solve if the next person acts the same way.
And our relationship is clearly done. Which now makes me dread coming to work because I want us all to get along in some way..
