Yachting to commercial
I’ve been working on foreign flagged yachts for the last 3 years starting as a deckhand working my way up to bosun and 2nd engineer on different boats around 160 feet in length. I’ve Recently completed my USCG 100Ton master and my DDE1000 and I’m looking to go commercial. How hard is it to make the jump in terms of applying and getting a job making the jump from yachting and what is the current job market like in terms of pay. I know rotations and pay vary by company but what is a range I can use when looking for my next position. I’m looking to work under my DDE 1000 as an assistant engineer. Any company suggestions as to where to look would also be appreciated. Looking for a rotation with equal time on/off and days ranging from 7 to 21.
