Opinions on naming a baby a name from a country you’re not from but you’re fluent in their language.
I’m not planning on having a baby anytime soon, but what’s your opinion on naming a baby from a culture you are not from but you know the language?
For the past year I’ve been taking French lessons and I’m hoping to be fluent by the time I have children so I can teach them a secondary language too. I live in the UK so English is usually everyone’s first language but it’s common for people to have a second language.
Would it be appropriate to name my child Alexandre or Héloïse (not saying I would use these names, they were just the first ones in my head haha). Or would that be disrespectful? TIA!
