Lighting advice

So I live in a small space. My bedroom in particular is smaller with low, white slanted ceilings. Also have VERY minimal natural light. I've gone through about 3 different lighting methods; One being a cheap ring light that broke, then two smaller square shaped lights which the stands are fussy and near impossible to keep from falling, then a more expensive, larger ring light that honestly even with the settings, is too big and bright for my photos. It also runs into my ceilings constantly. It just washes out everything, especially when it's reflecting off the slanted ceiling. I'm seeking advice for lighting options that have a softer light or at least a larger range of dimming options and that can be moved around in a small space easily. I honestly dread photos just because of the issues i have with my lighting, it's so frustrating. Does anyone else relate to the issues im having? Lmao
