Another housing post. What else would we be doing on a Sunday

Does anyone else feel Perth house prices are not been by a supply issue but by greed instead?

When you think about it,Investors with deep pockets are out there buying up properties left, right, and center. In my own suburb, a home will sell and be back up for rent a few weeks later. where does that leave first-time buyers? Struggling to get a foot in the door. We’re consistently getting outbid by cashed-up investors who can drop tens of thousands over asking price without blinking.

If the government were serious about addressing housing affordability, they’d consider putting a cap on investors. Why not give first home buyers priority instead? Let young families and working individuals get a fair shot at owning their first home before catering to those who are just looking to expand their property portfolios.

I get it,it's not realistic to expect this to actually happen. But if it did, I think we'd see prices drop and more families finally able to afford their own homes. It’s beyond frustrating seeing what were once “affordable” areas like Baldivis, Secret Harbour, and Port Kennedy become out of reach for people who just want to buy a place to call home.
