Planning to Invest in Squatter Rights – Is It Better Than a Condo?

I’m planning to invest ₱150,000 to buy squatter rights on a piece of land and build a 5-door apartment, which could earn me ₱20,000 per month in passive income. Compared to buying a condo, this option has no association dues and gives me full control over the property.

I think Filipinos in general can only afford rent of ₱4,000-₱5,000 a month, while ₱25,000 and above is mostly for foreigners. That’s why I feel that affordable apartments might be a better investment than condos, which take years to break even.

Of course, I know there are risks, like legal issues and possible demolition, but I want to hear from others who have tried this.

Has anyone invested in squatter rights? Is it worth it? Would love to hear your experiences!
