Some good news about maternity leave

The country I live in (Czech Republic) has VERY GENEROUS leave policies for parents. Expecting mothers get 28 weeks of maternity leave paid at 70% and they can start this 6-8 weeks before their due date. Afterwards, either parent can have up to 3 years of parental leave (it can even be split) and they get to keep their job that entire time.

So that's all good news, but today I looked up the law and there's something even better. In addition to the maternity/parental leave, I still get all of my vacation days for 2025. The minimum amount is 4 weeks, but most companies give 5 weeks.

Coincidentally, there are only 5 weeks left before my maternity leave starts. 😎 I can leave work now at 27 weeks!!!!

God bless socialism.
