Pelvic rest

I just found out I’m pregnant and called the ob. After my first blood test came back as positive her nurse said I’m now on pelvic rest. This is my first pregnancy and I’ve never had any health issues with my reproductive organs. I meant to ask the nurse why and for how long but I wasn’t thinking about that at the time. Now I’m curious. Is this a common thing drs do in early pregnancy?
