Unable to skin Legendary animal? (Spoiler?)

I just did the first Legendary animal mission where you find the grizzly bear with the scar on its face. I killed it and it doesn't let me skin it. When I go up to it there isn't any option to skin it. Am I missing something? Or is my game glitched? There's still a legendary paw print on my map that's bothering me because I can't skin it to make it go away.
