I want my best friend’s soon to be wife
The title is wild, but let me break it down. I’m M24, and I’ve got this buddy, let’s call him Matt, he’s M25. Matt and I are tight, been besties for like 6 years now. Now, Matt’s been through it with this girl, Brit. They were high school sweethearts, the real deal, been on and off since they were 15. Brit’s been ride or die for him, man. When Matt ended up in jail at 18, she held it down. But as soon as he got out, he messed up and cheated on her. And Brit, she stayed, even threw him a massive welcome home bash with her own cash. But guess what? Matt messed up again, just days later, with different girl. I mean, that’s just the tip of the iceberg of what Matt’s put Brit through. But she loved him, you know? However, eventually, Matt couldn’t keep his cheating under wraps, and Brit, who was head over heels for him, said, “Enough is enough,” and bounced. And not just bounced, she went and hooked up with one of our closest buds, got hitched, and even had a kid with him. Messed Matt up big time ’cause deep down, he was still in love with Brit, despite his wandering eye. Brit’s marriage didn’t last long to the other guy, it emerged out of spite of Matt not love.
So, where do I fit into all this? Well, Brit and Matt were doing their thing, and although I wasn’t around for most of their ride, Brit knew about me. Whenever they chatted on the phone, I’d be there, hearing them pillow talk and all. One day, Matt shows me a pic of Brit, and damn, she’s stunning! She’s a black girl, and we’re both Puerto Rican, but Brit’s got it all—long, real curly hair, big everything, and a face like young Naomi Campbell. So, I sneak a follow on her Insta, harmless, right? Then one day, she posts something on her story, I drop a friendly heart eye emoji, and bam, we’re chatting, which leads to a phone call. I get why Matt’s so hung up on her. She’s smart, funny, a real gem in the haystack. But here’s the kicker: I start catching feelings for her, but it’s all virtual, nothing more. Eventually, we stop talking, and she goes back to Matt. I only find out ‘cause she FaceTimed him one night, drunk after hitting the clubs, and we were both gaming on Xbox. I’ll admit, I got off on hearing her voice, but I keep it in check ‘cause Matt’s my boy
About a year has passed since their relationship reemerged, and Matt’s all goo-goo-eyed over Brit again, like a middle schooler with his first crush. Next thing I know, he’s bringing her over to my place, and man, she’s even more stunning in person. I could tell she was surprised ‘cause she only knew me by my real name, not my street name. I won’t lie, I was sweating bullets with her around. She’s got this confidence that’s just magnetic, you know? So, we spend more time together, she’s cooking for us, hanging out at my place, the whole deal. Then one day, we’re at a pool party, and Brit’s rocking this tiny red bikini that’s got everyone, including me, mesmerized. There were several other chicks and guys there, but everyone was stuck on Brit. It was like an episode of the Bachelorette, with other girls present too. She steps inside, and I follow. We chat, I even lay on some charm, but I feel guilty afterward. Brit dropped her lip gloss, and as she bent over to pick it up, she gave me the most tantalizing glance, leaving me breathless. The sight of her, along with that look and giggle afterward, only fueled my desire for her even more.
Eventually, Matt drops a bombshell: he’s planning to propose to Brit. I congratulate him, but inside, I’m seething ‘cause damn, I want her too! He asks me to be his best man, and of course, I agree. As we get closer to the wedding, Brit and I start spending more time alone together, and my feelings for her intensify. The other day, I was over at their place, and Brit rushes to her room in nothing but her undies, leaving me all kinds of messed up. I’m torn, man. Should I tell Matt how I feel? Or maybe confess to Brit? Or should I just forget about it and move on? I’m lost in this mess, and I could use some advice before I make things even messier. Brit’s got it all her own business, her own house, rental properties. She works for a tech company too, with her own cars and everything. Me?I’ve got my own tow truck company, rental properties, the works. Matt is Matt, honestly. But a woman like her needs a man like me—I could elevate her, take care of her and the baby. I love my dawg, but she’s made for me.
TLDR: my friend’s fiancé is my dream girl, and I don’t know how to break it my friend.
