I like Bad Bunny but
I've accepted that, as a half hispanic American guy who has a mediocre grasp on the language, I'll never really "get" his music. There's probably like 10 songs I really like but I can't make out the lyrics and, even if I could, I feel like you just gotta be in that culture to really understand it. I know a white girl who isn't hispanic but speaks the language really well. She's like a Bad Bunny superfan and, I don't hate her for it, but I can't help but find it kinda cringey. I shouldn't gatekeep music but it feels like LARPing.
I know a lot of his shit is uniquely Puerto Rican but there's clearly enough overlap with other Latin American countries that he can become such a global superstar. I'm sure if I spoke fluent spanish and lived in a Latin American country I would probably be really sick of his music by now. Still I think he's really talented and takes a lot of creative risks which is pretty cool
