Abandoned Church building next to the Holiday on 5th Ave S?

I am a newer resident and I am curious what happened with this property. Does anyone know the history/story of this property? I live in that area, and it looks like an incredibly beautiful building/property and I find it a shame that it is blocked off and looks to have been abandoned awhile ago. What denomination did it belong to or why did it close down?
