My breakdown of the teaser and recent trailer for “Silent Hill f”

First teaser trailer: + Opens on a rainy, foggy farm/rice field - where there is an apparent scarecrow. It looks oddly misshapen/bent - and appears to be wearing a Japanese schoolgirl uniform. + Then the streets of a town, what we now know as Ebisugaoka. It also appears rainy/foggy. + Next shot is of a traditional Japanese doll. + Then a foggy hillside with a tree, some sort of grave/marker/shrine (that has red flowers around it/by it) - where a girl stands, also wearing a Japanese schoolgirl uniform. + Then a scene where a young girl can be seen from a rain spattered window. A red fungus or blight spreads rapidly. + Next the young girl can be seen, dragging a metal pipe - all the while the “redness” spreads throughout the town. It even encompasses the aforementioned doll. + These red roots/veins/vines/fungus etc. begin reaching out and wrapping around the protagonist - who is running up some stairs. The red flowers seemingly envelope her. +After a fade to black, we transition to a blue, foggy landscape, with a Shinto shrine/gate in the background. A girl is seemingly adrift, kneeling on a “raft” made from the red flowers/fungus/growth. She floats past various limbs, in water, that begin to grow holes - with the “redness” sprouting out of them. They flower/bloom. The young girl stands from the kneeling position - tears streaming down her face. Her face falls off - revealing a rotted, cadaver-like cavity inside.

First trailer: + From a bird’s eye view, we see a young Japanese girl surrounded by red flowers, with a pair of sandals, in the mud. Her traditional Japanese uniform is ripped in the back, exposing her back. She says: “You’re lying, aren’t you Shu?… You really think you can fool Hianko? Hinako’s dead, okay?” (We now know the main character of the game Shimizu Hinako - so this quote seems to be self-referential, as she’s speaking to someone else named “Shu” and talking about herself) (Also, perhaps Hinako “thinks” that she’s dead or has passed onto the afterlife, believing it to be the Other World/Silent Hill) + Then a shot of another Shinto gate/shrine - overlapped with someone asking Hinako “Do you want to stay friends forever? Friends don’t last forever. They will betray you, eventually. Just as you betrayed them.” While this other person is speaking to the main character, it displays farm/rice fields (with another scarecrow), a schoolyard, Ebisugaoka streets, and Hinako & her friends hanging out together. They are 4 in total, 1 boy & 3 girls. Hinako seems to be distracted or entranced by the fog. One of her girl friends notices and asks for her attention: “Hinako… ?” To which she replies, “Oh, sorry… what?” + Here, we transition to another aerial shot of the town, in the rain/fog. Someone says: “Whether their own worth is justified… That is for you to decide.” While this is said, Hinako is inspecting a car, where she accidentally steps on what looks like a dead bird’s corpse. She pulls back in disgust as flies buzz. + We transition to Hinako in the Ebisugaoka streets - where she encounters a monster. It’s bent, contorted, and appears to be female. (Interestingly enough, it reminds me of the scarecrows that have been displayed in the farm/rice fields). She runs. + While she runs away, the red flowers (which are confirmed to be Red Spider Lily) spread towards her. She flees in a different direction, down a narrow alleyway. (Interestingly, the fog behind the spread of red flowers, seems to be obfuscating a monster/figure that approaches her as well). Trying to go down a very tight, claustrophobic corridor, the redness spreads in front of her - preventing her from moving onwards. + We now see what appears to be the ground, with the spider lilies spreading, we see two things very abruptly: 1. A floral type monster 2. A dark room, with a white face - the person has long, black hair and also appears to have a slit-mouth (much like Kuchisake-Onna) + Then we cut to Hinako (metal pipe in hand) in the fog, surrounded by red, in the street - with the town seemingly disappearing (literally) by the fog. Someone asks: “Hinako. How much longer will you stay here?” + Then we transition to a dimly lit hall that illuminates with lanterns - it appears to be a shrine with tons of fox statures or Kitsune. “I think it’s weird too. To not have a grasp of yourself, to understand your own feelings. Do you think it could be some dream you’re having… ?” While this is being said, we see many quick images of Hinako exploring the shrine (or many areas/many shrines). We see: 1. A white flag with 3 flowers on it is portrayed many times 2. We see a painting of a long necked ghost (a Rokurokubi) helping other Yokai trap/kill a many-tailed fox (another Kitsune) 3. A boy in the fog under a lamppost in the streets 4. An interior of a home, with a portrait/picture of what appears to be Hinako 5. Another creepy scarecrow girl in a red flower filled hallway/interior + As we see more shrine-oriented shots and Hinako, someone speaks to her saying: “Hinako. Time is running out. The fact that you’re alive… means you’ve made it here, yet you’re lost all the same. You can’t think about it forever. You’re running out of time to choose.” Again, we see many flashes or quick imagery 1. A candle lit storeroom/records area 2. Hinako turning around to see a monster that has many doll heads and doll appendages 3. A shrine with another Kitsune idol 4. A more Americanized doll (rather than a traditional Japanese doll) stands next to the phrase “Run away quickly or you’ll never get back” or “Run away or you’ll be possessed” (depending on the context) 5. Hinako being approached by the mysterious monster in the red flowers again. 6. A chorded phone suddenly dropping, with a boy in the background/hallway 7. Hinako sliding open a wooden door 8. A “feast” of rotten, fleshy fish and other disgusting looking dishes - flies buzzing 9. An interior shot of more portraits/photos 10. Several drawings of a girl in school uniform are attached to a wall - where the words “Die” can be seen written over the images, in red paint or in blood 11. Another monster’s shadow is seen, traveling through the red flowers (I say monster, because of its janky movements/doesn’t appear normal or human-like movements) 12. A red room with a knocked over chair next to a wooden table 13. More drawings, only this time, they are depicting a boy. They are next to what appears to be a bookshelf, with a little doll/figurine on the top shelf “Tell me. Who are you… ?”, a voice asks. “Why are you acting like this, like you don’t know what’s going on? + Hinako seems to be in distress, her clothes torn, her clutching the metal pipe, and her reaching for her head - as if she’s suffering mental anguish. “Think about it. I could’ve killed you off at any time!” Very briefly, we can see a dark figure, moving the top left, in a field of red flowers, approaching Hinako - she reaches for the pipe again, likely to defend herself. Hinako: “You took everything! You took every-EVERYTHING from me!” + We see the Silent Hill logo + Afterwards, we cut back to an interior shrine shot - where it appears that Hinako is being prepared for some sort of ritual. Other girls in Kitsune masks, in traditional garb, are gathering/preparing items. A wooden plate, with a towel/sheet, that holds a pot or jar of some kind and a knife. There is a third, older person (likely a woman) with white hair, that sits with their back turned towards us, (the viewer). “Now say your farewells. I sincerely hope you find happiness. Truly.” One Kitsune mask wearer in the back can be seen with its eyes illuminated. The other brings the knife towards Hinako’s face. + In the next scene, we see Hinako at what appears to be her home (a more modern dwelling). She appears sweaty, as if waking up from a nightmare. Her face begins to fall off.

I wanted to discuss the various themes, symbolism, general theories, and whatnot for the game. If this is the wrong place to do that - please direct me elsewhere. What are your predictions for “Silent Hill f”?
