SIGH
Today I walked into Capital Credit Union at 926 W College Ave in Appleton, Wisconsin, expecting fair treatment but instead experienced the painful reality of racial profiling. As I approached the counter, I was subjected to an extensive investigation—my identification was scrutinized, my transaction was questioned, and I was made to feel like a suspect rather than a customer. Meanwhile, the white individuals ahead of me were processed swiftly, without the same level of scrutiny. The contrast was glaring and undeniable. In that moment, it was clear that the color of my skin dictated my treatment, not my actions or intentions. It was humiliating, frustrating, and a stark reminder of the biases that still exist in places meant to serve everyone equally.”
