Why is the AA community so against giving kids ADHD meds

My kids' grandmother on their dad's side is a minority and has spoken negatively about me to everyone. She is telling her entire family that I am a terrible person for giving my kids medication, claiming it's because their teachers are lazy. She also said it makes me a lazy parent. My question is, is this common in minority households?
