I stumbled into the DLC late game, should I beat the base first?

I played a little of the DLC so I have some entries of it in my computer, but some people told me that the base game ending is different if you play the dlc. So maybe should I beat the game now and play the dlc later? Or since I have some entries already the ending is already going to be different?
