Am I trippin’ or is there another way to unlock the rear passenger door? It won’t open from the inside, but opens from the outside or when using the fob. What’s missing?

Does anyone know what part/ component is causing this uneven gap? It got pushed in/ down from an object. If I take the bumper off, can I bend something back to get the proper gap or new bumper cover?
